Q. I think that the breakdown of the nuclear family contributes to many of our social problems. I truly beleive that weak families breed weak communities and ultimately a weak nation. A loving home with a mother and father would greatly improve our society. Yet, it seems that we would rather spend $$$ on social programs that have failed for 40 years. Thoughts? It all begins at home, and when people take responsibility for their children and marriages, society will change because family is the fundamental unit of any society. When things aren't good at home, a child's game is off everywhere. Answered by amabO - Thu Apr 30 16:51:26 2009 What is the difference between social and political? Q. for example, would war fall under social or political? corrupt leaders would fall under political, correct? social class is obviously social. can anybody give me some other examples? oh and is church/religion social? Asked by antioxidant - Tue Nov 18 21:01:11 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. There is really no exact definition that all categories would fall under. Generally social refers to the way ordinary people live their lives. Social includes, entertainment, clothing, fads, fashions, civil rights, trends, patterns, and demographics. Political refers to the decisions our elected officials make on any number of topics. Religion included. Generally discussing religion refers to social issues more than political issues however. Corrupt leaders would fall under political in most instances. Answered by Mr. Curious - Fri Nov 21 22:09:59 2008 where to volunteer for a social work major in college?
Q. I am interested in volunteering as it is a prereq in my program. However I want to volunteer somewhere specifically in social wok long term to gain work experiance before I finish my degree. I'm specifically interested in medical social work or social work involved with children. Asked by collegegrllstress - Sun Nov 25 18:31:26 2007 - - 4 Answers - 1 Comments A. Your best bet would be outside of the actual medical context (unless the hospital has opportunities to actually volunteer on a pediatric unit - most hospitals don't give volunteers much to do). Programs like Ronald McDonald House or other pediatric programs for youth dealing with long-term illness or even disability (there are often camps and related programs). Youth programs in general are great to volunteer with (Big brother/sister - boys and girls clubs, etc.) Always need volunteers.
